As many of us know ReqWireless wrote many great BlackBerry applications. It is my theory that ReqWireless did Google Local for Mobile. I can only wonder what they will bring out next!?

GMail Viewer? Google Talk?

That certainly explains why they vanished so suddenly. >20 million for them is insane, Google must have REALLY wanted them... I suspect Reqwireless knocked on Googles door offering to make them a version, and instead of just buying the product, Google purchased the entire firm :D

With Google Local http://www.google.com/glm they are going into the mobile software market. Perhaps that's what they are using the Reqwireless employees for.

Reqwireless was going out of business anyway, it seemed -- so it wouldn't have made a difference, and Google bought them out for the employees. Good employees like those can be very valuable...

Having been a Blackberry user since 2001-ish back then they made quite a splash in the Blackberry community, as there were very few third party developers..

Problem is i hardly had a use for any of their apps. =)

i'm glad to see that (perhaps) GLM might be their baby, and finally something useful to come out of that camp. =)

We really don't know what they paid for them, the $22.5 million was for three companies combined, ReqWireless was one of them.
