Default 2g or 3g

Please Login to Remove!

I have just bought a bold 9900.

And am fairly pleased with it, altough have had a lockup when phone freezed , had to take the battery out. Hoping this is a software issue soon to be fixed.

main question is

If i switched to 2g rather then 3g can i still use mobile internet /facebook/bbm ect obv at a lower speed. Also would this increase my battery life.
Or am i simply best to keep it on 3g and not switch 2g.3g. My area has a pretty good connection and im always at 5 bars.

Regards Lee

You can get a data connection on either 2G or 3G, but if the connection is too slow apps like YouTube won't stream videos and will probably give you a cryptic error message. The difference in battery life between 2G and 3G is not that dramatic.

I would stay with 3G, unless you find that your battery life is suffering. You will get slower speeds on 2G but you will see a small improvement in the life of your device.

You should be fine with your limit for what you do. Enjoy the phone!!

I am having the same issue on all 3 of my OS7 devices, 9900 and 9860.
While on 3G/H+ after 30 minutes my BBM freeze on the clock symbol and internet, Facebook and twitter a dead, once I switch to EDGE all is back to Normal.

I contacted BlackBerry technical and they are now aware of the problem and have issued a ticket, they said they will get back to me in 24 hours, only time will tell.
