And what about inserting only an option into settings of Pearl, that allows choosing another shutter sound? E.g. in Motorola Razor you can choose "no sound" and that's all.

this would be swell (unlikely, but swell) since you could create a usable audio file with a very muted sound, even dead air.

I am sure, I can create wav. files with no sound. That is a matter of minutes... e.g. e-jay software. Even with dead air ;)

Default Talked with RIM

I actually spoke with RIM today about this issue and they said there is a way to disable the sound but it would have to be a modification to the OS software. He told me they do offer an open source code for approved users. So basically if your good at coding then you might be able to convince RIM to let you make your own version of the OS and disable the camera shutter sound.

Interesting. You might post that info over in the developer's forum and see if anyone knows what they're referring to. I'm not sure it's something that anyone developing apps for the BB would be interested in doing, though.

Are you using an OEM Headset? Can you hear any sounds through it?

Start a phone call (like call your home voicemail or something), and take the picture if you must. But sheez....

Hmmmm.... Well either it's a new "Feature" on the 8130 or your special! Works for everyone else.

Personally, I like the shutter sound. It's a great ice breaker! Ok, some people don't like strangers taking their pictures, but they are in public and are basically fair game. Just remember to smile when you click it!

I'm doing that at work on Saturday!!!!
I mean, it'll be great! As long as a manager isn't there =)

Ugh, don't wanna be a thread crapper. Like JS said, call say, voicemail, and then do it.

Little advice - Turn key sounds OFF, and then speed dial buttons (such as VM) don't make any noise =)
