Default 7250 Calculator Screen Problem

Please Login to Remove!

I have a 7250 thru Alltel, and I am using OS 4.0. I loaded the themes from the theme thread and tried them out. After doing so, I discovered that the themes had wiped out my settings (font, font size, wallpaper, stand by screen, etc.)

So I uninstalled the theme package with Desktop manager. Then I used a backup file from the previous day to restore my BB to before I installed the themes.

Now, when I try to use the Calculator, my screen shows the standard 7250 caculator screen with a BB keyboard overlaid on the image. I'm thinking this is "theme" calculator and now it's mixed up with my normal calulator screen. The problem is that I can't read either one because they're both showing. How do I get rid of one? I would like to keep the BB keyboard style calculator, as opposed to the original. But I'd be happy with either rather than both at the same time.

Any ideas how I can fix it?

Ah yes, the old "I put on a theme and now the calculator is messed up". A whole new group of victims.

I recommend you doing a second backup, the use Javaloader to wipe out the BB and reload the OS. Then restore (which obviously you know how to do).

For everyone else in our viewing audience: themes can break the calculator.

Wow, that was fast. Thanks NJ!

Thanks for the vote of confidence. Any idea how I can get just the cool calculator? (the keyboard one) If I reinstall the BB, I'll get the original one back. Don't get me wrong that's much better than what I've got now. But I know you guys are masters at this sort of thing...

As a rule I stay away from themes because they are not worth the trouble.. Sorry..
I use the themes that are designed for the model BB that I have.

I thought I had only installed themes that were for my model BB. Oh well. Live and learn. When OS 4.1 comes out I will play with making some of my own themes, but I think I'll be avoiding them until then. Thanks again!

I think that the "cool calculaator" comes with the 4.02 upgrade.

Thanks guys. Now all I need to do is wait for Alltel to come out with the 4.02 upgrade.

Do a search, I believe you can install it from another vendor like Verizon as long as you remove the vendor.xlm file. I have not done this but I know that people do do it all the time, just read on it before you attempt it.

The Telus version currently offers the new calculator. Verizon requires a valid subscriber phone number to download the package from their site....

I had read a while back that someone had resolved the calculator issues with the themes...apparently this isn't the case. Glad I didn't install them...

My blackberry has a valid subscriber phone number and it still would not accept it so I used the number from my wife's verizon phone and it downloaded.
