Default New version of Visual Voicemail in App Center...

Please Login to Remove!

So I just noticed that there's an updated version of Visual Voicemail in the App Center on my Storm...

Has anyone downloaded it... and is anything different? I'm wondering if this update fixed the speaker problem.

Thanks!

Cool The free way

Hey,

I haven't tried either of the Visual Voice Mail products offered by rim.

I tend to be a big fan of FREE! So I signed up for an account with
Grand Central. Its googles' gig now, and I got in after only waiting 3 weeks. That was a year ago though so I don't know how long it will take now. But it wont hurt you to sign up and see. Once you're in its pretty sweet!!

Sorry if this is a little off topic and in no way shape or form answered the question

If I'm not mistaken... Grand Central is a web based Google service and has nothing to do with the Storm? ie: you can't get visual voicemail on the Storm, just on the web? Talk about off topic Interesting stuff though. Deserves some poking around I think.

Anyone try out the updated VZW Visual Voicemail yet?

I'm basically waiting for the sound fix before I starting using it (and paying for it).

I use VZW VM and I am not aware of any update. I am running version 1.19.2. I have been running this version since December. I have gone into the App Center to refresh the apps and do not see an updated version. It says I have the latest version already installed.

Please disgregard my previous post. I refreshed my app center again and there is now version 1.19.6 for VM. I am installing now.

Can you elaborate on your sound problem? Were some messages broken up when you played them?

The one issue I had was with new messages. If I deleted a new VM without listening to it and received another VM later on in the day, the VM I deleted would re-appear.

The sound issue is the one that seems to be prevalent with everyone using VVM... ie: you can only play the voicemails via speakerphone or earphones. And that if you try and play the voicemails via the regular earpiece (holding the phone up to your ear) the volume is barely audible.

I just figure I'd wait until you could listen to voicemails through the phone regularly without having to use speakerphone or a headset.

Do you know if this has been fixed with the new version?

Yes, I remember that issue now. I normally listen to them on speaker because I hate having to hold the phone up to my ear. Anyway, I changed it so that I could listen to a message while holding it up to my ear. I had to jack the volume all the way up to its max setting in order to hear it. I am in the office with minimal background noise and could hear the message but I had to concentrate on listening to it. I do not think the problem that you were speaking of has been fixed in my opinion.

Hi troops. I just upgraded and it is definitely louder. It still could be a little bit louder, but it is acceptable IMHO.

Here is my only gripe: if you are listening to a message through the standard handset opening (NOT through the main speaker) and of course you have it up to your ear if your face brushes the screen and it highlights another message it will stop playing the current message dead in its tracks.

Does anybody else experience this? This is annoying and needs fixed.

Thanks Thom and Trella. Do you two think that the earpiece volume (when holding the phone up to your ear regularly) is on par or lower than it would be on a regular phone call? Just trying to get an idea of where it's at now.

In my opinion, a regular voice call with the volume set to its max is much louder than the VM at its maximum.

I think the update increased the headset volume just a tad. I listen to my voice mails through speakerphone or via Bluetooth. No difference there.

Wirelessly posted

How do you get the upgrade?

Nothing shows up in my app center nor when I say upgrade from within vvm.

My Storm's App Center auto updates... and the updated version just showed up by itself a few days ago. Try refreshing your App Center.

If you have "Auto Update" turned off, you need to manually refresh the App center.

Also, as for the new VVM, nothing new noted except increased volume.

Sorry to bring this up again, but does anybody else experience the issue I spoke of in my previous post(#10)? Currently running 4.7.0.86, but it did it with .85 too.

Thanks
