Default Latest OS: 9900 7.0.0.2416/7.0.0.590 (Multilanguages)

Please Login to Remove!

Software For BlackBerry® Bold 9900 smartphone
BlackBerry Handheld Software v7.0.0.2416 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 7.0.0.2416
Consisting of:
  • Applications: 7.0.0.590
  • Software Platform: 5.0.0.739
  • File name: 9900M_PBr7.0.0_rel2416_PL5.0.0.739_A7.0.0.590_Part ner_Communications.exe
  • File size: 220.53MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download the OS file here: https://swdownloads.blackberry.com/D...D943498B89DD71

Instructions for installing on the 9900:
1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you've deleted or think you've deleted it in the folder previously) and voila, it will allow you to update to the newly installed OS!
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process may take up to 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a black "BlackBerry" screen with a status bar for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again, and it should load the OS to the device.

Hmmm. Won't update for me... Not had this issue before as usually works ok.... Oh well, will play a bit, or just stay on 2290 for a bit longer!

Same here, will not update......I've done this a million times. I run the apploader and it says no new updates?

You must locate and delete ALL copies of VENDOR.XML on your PC C: drive in order to install a new update.

I find the battery life of this build a bit better than 7.1

Think I'll stick with this version for awhile.

@b-suns - No, it doesn't. I just noticed that my meter drops from 99+ to 92 as soon as I disconnect from my charger. Have to install another version methinks...again.

@Kimberlee - Yes, there are sometimes two.

Multi-lang, yes. I did have to install my languages again. Not sure if Russian input was supported.

Battery life for me is on the bad side of crap. It's not the OS's fault, it's where I work. I can still get through an 8 hour day. When I am not working the battery is pretty good. I can get a solid day out of it. Take it off the charger around 08:00 and not worry about it until I go to bed.

For those of you where it would not update, check:

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML

I found one there and once renamed it was ok.
