Hi, was wondering, what sort of signal is required for google talk to function?

1x, 1X, EV?

what about email?

Not sure the differences between the levels but as long as you have data service GoogleTalk should work, along with email.

Try a search, there is a thread explaining the various levels of service and the phone indication [1x, 1X, etc.].

I think as long as you have a signal it should be OK, that is the only time I've noticed any issue, if I've not had a good signal.

You need either 1X or EV. Lowercase indicates no data service at the time, just voice.
