Default Adding Keyboard Shortcuts?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello, just looking for a quick answer to a quick question...

I'm trying to use more of the keys as a shortcut to functions...

Specifically, I have the center front key mapped to "browser" and the side key to "profiles". I would like to add "Keypad Lock" to another key but in the keyboard menu under options, I only have the ability to map those two afore mentioned keys. Is there a way to do this? Or maybe there is a default shortcut for locking the keypad? Thanks!

You didnt state which model you have. I believe you can only map those two keys you mentioned.

On my 7100i, I just hold the "*" to lock the keypad and then "* + Phone Key" to unlock.

For a great faq on key shortcuts, try Stinsonddog's Blackberry Tips

1) Go to Phone > Options > General Options > Dial from Home Screen to "Off"

"K" is short for "Keyboard Lock".

2) Try the BBF FAQ or the tips in Mod StinsonDDog's signature for more tips.

3) Look into the 3rd Party App PocketDay. It gives you the option to assign more shortcuts.

4) Consider searching, please. There are a few threads on this topic.

Welcome to the forums.

It definetly depends on which model you have.

If you have a full querty keyboard you can map the keyboard as well. The nextel one you can only map the front key. The other 7100 series, you can map both the side and front.

The links can definitely help you

If you have 8700g and use zen theme, you can move the phone lock icon to one of the top 5 icons. i need to be able to dial from homescreen, so I have to turn the feature on. Once i turn it on, some of the shortcuts do not work. however, if i set the lock icon as one of the top 5 icons, i could quickly access it thru the trackwheel.
