Default Email problems

Please Login to Remove!

I'm a new user and I can't seem to get my email to work. I have set up two separate POP accounts that are set up in Outlook and I have now set them up on my bb. It seems as though all I am getting is alot of spam, alot...Someone said that under the advance settings in outlook that I had to check off "leave a copy on server" but when I do that I get double of every email in outlook. It is hit and miss on my bb, I will get some emails but not all. Any suggestions would be great, my frustration level is rising daily.

Are you on BES or BIS and are you using both?

With BIS, there is no interaction with Outlook except when you sync to your desktop and it does not do mail.

BIS is polling your email and forwarding it to your BB every 15 mins. If you take the mail off the server with outlook before BIS polls the pop account, you will not get it on the BB.

As for the Spam, BIS offers filters which you can use to try to eliminate the spam. Not sure who your pop accounts are with, I would start with their spam fllters or maybe look to 3rd party options.

Thanks that's great, but how do I get my "other" email accounts meaning the one's I normally get off outlook? I'm hoping that when I'm at my office or at home and in front of my computer that I can get my emails but when I'm out, I should also be able to get them, perhaps I will need to turn my computer off. Does that make sense? There is an option to leave a copy on server from outlook but when I check it I am getting 2 copies of every email on outlook and none on bb. This is getting frustrating. Thanks for helping.

Are you connecting to an Exchange Server for your email?

It would help if you could tell the name of wireless carrier that sold you blackberry and you have BIS account with.

About spam: login to your blackberry BIS account and delete blackberry email address. You don't need it if you have POP accounts you want to get emails from.
By doing that you will eliminate spam sent directly to blackberry and will be left with spam sent to your POP accounts.

As for email: start with deleting all your POP email addresses from BIS account. Yes, all of them. Your BIS account should have no email addresses left.

Set Outlook to leave copy of messages on server, for 5 days. Do you still receive double of every email in Outlook? If yes- it is not blackberry problem. Find tech folks familiar with Outlook and ask for help.

Once you figured what was wrong with Outlook, and have it keep messages on server (for 5 days) and both of them- at your office and at home, it is time to go back to blackberry.

Add one of your POP email addresses to BIS. If successful, you will get new mailbox icon on device. You should be able to send and receive emails to that email address. Remember, it could take 15-20 minutes between email arriving to Outlook and making it to your blackberry.

Proceed with next POP email address.

It should work, blackberries work for millions of people worldwide.
