Talking Access to a web-app on the BES

Please Login to Remove!

Hi BlackBerry-Community,

I got a BlackBerry wich connects to my own BES.

Now I want to install a web-application on the BES which I want to access over my BlackBerry.

Does someone of you got the knowledge what I have to do?

I read some topics already but I think I'm the first crazy man who want to do that

Thanks for your help!

Regards,
cherryberry

Your BES server already runs IIS because of MDS. All you have to do is setup your web app usign your IIS on your BES and access it through your mds browser on your Blackberry

You could also install the app on any web server reachable from the BES. Use your MDS browser (as opposed to the Internet Browser)

MDS Browser by default will be named BlackBerry Browser on your HH; its standard software that gets delivered / activated when you Enterprise Activate.

Default url?

so I set the MDS Browser to my default to use it and now the next question the BB Server runs on IP adress: 192.168.160.24 and the BB Router runs on 192.168.161.24.
If I access from my local PC both IPs I get from the BB router a "5?" request on port 80 (http) - no response from the BB Server.

Wich adress do I have to access from my Blackberry ?

or:

If I setup my webserver on the IP adress 192.168.6.11 wich adress do I have to access from my Blackberry ?

Hey hayabusa, you said BES already running IIS because of MDS. Really ah? Is that so? I never have this impression... Could you advise how I can deploy a simple ASP page on the BES then?

Red face

You are correct I mis-spoke in my previouse post by default IIS is not installed. What I meant to say was that you could serve up web apps from your bes server if you wanted to and access it through your BB HH MDS browser. Sorry

well by using the MDS Browser I can access all machines wich are in range with the BES so it's really easy to access them you just need to enter the correct IP adress.
Another questions wich I know have is:

If I pay for a connection to my local phone(bb) provider wich includes a 5 Megabytes volumen does this 5MB also count for my traffic between me -> BES -> intranet Web Server ?

To hit your internal web site, just use the mds browser and hit the internal DNS name or the direct IP.

So lets say you've got a Internal Site running on a computer named PC1.yourcompany.com and has an IP of 172.16.1.15 the 'site' is in the http root and has an index.html page...

Either of the following will work:

http://PC1/index.html
or
http://172.16.1.15/index.html

Make sense?

This does count as traffic as it goes BB -> Wireless Network -> RIM -> BES -> Intranet Server

anything to anywhere that has to use the wireless network will count towards your data plan usage.
