Default MDS / Internet problems

Please Login to Remove!

I have recetnly completed the Knife-edge cut over and everything went perfectly. The only thing out of the ordinary is that I have 2 MDS servers. Is there a way that I can get rid of one of them?

Another thing that has been happening from before the cut over is that when i try to browse the internet I am getting authentication prompts from my LAN's proxy? Can I stop this from happening?

Is one of the MDS servers the NETBIOS name of the old server and one the NETBIOS name of the new one? Do both run?

Do you normally get auth prompts from your LANs proxy? How is it configured to operate?

That is correct one is the Netbios name of the old computer and one the new computer. The MDS_CS That has the old computer name has a status of Unknown and does nto have an option to start or stop. The one with the netbios name of the new computer seems to run fine.

On my LAN we do use Proxy authentication for internet access but it is tied into Active directory so unless a user is having a password issue on their computer they do not get prompted for a username and password.

Launch SQL Ent Manager (or some SQL query tool) and connect to your BESMgmt database.

Execute the following:

select * from mdsconfig

Then locate the instance you want to remove and do:

delete from mdsconfig where servername = "serveryouwanttoremove"

Regarding the proxy auth, select the mds-cs server you're using, and go to properties. Then select HTTP and change "Support HTTP Authentication" from False to True.

Nope, you can remove that entry while the services are running. If you want you can back up the DB first, as a safety precaution.
