Hi, I've been getting a 'few' emails regarding the guide to remove IT Policies. Everything has moved to:

(http, colon, slash, slash) blackberry.ig3.net

(What's with the stupid URL-posting restrictions?)

You'll also find a Policy.bin download link on that page. I'm sorry I had to move it, I've had a few hosting issues of late. Hope fully this subdomain is here to stay !

The stupid rule is to prevent spammers from posting links in their drive byes.

I wonder if wiping out IT policy will allow me to install bblight. It seems my company's BES is configured to disallow any third party apps being loaded for whatever security reasons.

Wow.. as everyone else has said Cheers Dan!! I also am one of the people who bought a used BB8700 and it had an existing IT Policy on it.. restricting all kinds of things.. web browsing.. and it locks out every 30 min.. So my question after reading this thread is.. the bluetooth issues.. is the only problem that the BT sync does not work.. or all BT functions.. can I still use my BT headset?? and transfer things via BT.. or is the entire BT function disabled.. Thanks.. KK

Check with your BES admin before doing so, such practice will get you fired at my company...

Question: If you remove all the BES settings and use the policy.bin to install 3rd party apps and then sync back to BES server -- will the BES remove the 3rd party app that was installed using the policy.bin route? or will the 3rd party app still be there?

The applications will still be there and functional assuming that other policy rules dont prevent it in part or whole. For example, there is an policy rule to restrict other web browsers so Opera browser would not work.

Not really any need to check with your BES Admin since you can't change the IT Policy without wiping the BB and then syncing with Desktop Manager set up for Internet (not BES) email.

As soon as you figure out that you can't get your company email and set up back on the BES, you get that BES's IT Policy where you can't change it!

Now trying to access your company email through BIS might get you fired, but that's a different thread....

That brings up a really good question... What could a company check to see if unauthorized users are retreiving email through BIS and not BES?

I called RIM TSupport and they advised the following regarding Desktop Redirector message routing. I'm not an Exchange Admin, so I will take the info to my team, but I thought I would post it here in case anyone else can benefit from the info or make any sense of it.

RIM advised to check the Exchange email inbound/outbound queues.
We should be able to go to the Network Add option and look for any users who show messages routing to the following:

etpXX.etp.XX.blackberry.net (where the XX is some number of a server)

If the blackberry.net address shows in the inbound/outbound queue, the user is using Desktop Redirector for message routing.

If I didn't use the correct lingo, sorry. I'll get in touch with our Exchange admins and have them clarify the above steps.
