Correct, can't d/l large files and seed them...a torrent program would be neat w/ much better speeds.

do I use my pc less, absolutely, but it will not replace. Too many work apps, and personal apps (iLIfe) and of course the screen size. its effective in helping me minimize use of my computer, but will never replace it.

Yeah I think that's what I meant by using pc less...I mean it won't ever completley replace I don't think.

The only thing I pretty much do is read the news, do emails and download/sync songs via iTunes

I'm just sick of looking at pcs all day at work...

Default Will not replace my notebook

I definitely spend less time corresponding from my notebook. The beauty of the BB is the ability on-the-fly (as I call it) to respond to messages. However, less sexy tasks like creating Powerpoint Presentations or writing a real document definitely requires my notebook. Sure you could use eOffice and I do have that on my berry but it is a clunky application and doesn't lend itself to realy document production. Also being able to listen to my tunes and view videos from my pocket is pretty cool too. Hope this helps.

Know what would be cool? If all the good apps on desktops could be made to run natively on the bb, then create a docking station for the bb and allow you use a keyboard, mouse and big monitor while still using the bb as the system. UMPC's are getting there...

My BlackBerry hasn't replaced my PC and never will, but I feel less compelled to be on the PC, esp. on the weekends. Sometimes now I don't even get on it til evening. I can check my forum and BBF, email, etc. anything I need on the BlackBerry.

For a few weeks after I got my BB, I'd boot my computer and then go look at emails. Then in an instant I'd realize I'd already seen them all on the BB. Best thing for me is I don't have to worry that I'm missing an important email.

But until they put one of those tiny projectors into a BB with a nice browser, I still spend a ton of time on the internet on the PC. Plus I can't do work on my BB since I deal with huge spreadsheets.

By tiny projector I mean one of these:

Cell Phone Projectors & Other Cool Innovations

I have computers at work and home. Blackberries have never replaced any of them, but certainly makes it easier to surf and email anywhere at anytime even more than before.

The BB is a wonderful convenience. I love it's size and getting emails that I have to have while camping or wheeling or fishing or doing whatever I do.

Let's face it, it doesn't do email very well at all. It doesn't browse very well at all. You can't edit any document type at all and if you could the formatting would be screwed.

I use the BB just to keep up with happenings. I use the computer for EVERYTHING else. Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Photoshop, ExpressDigital, Firefox, Thunderbird, Picasa and the list goes on and on and on.

I don't even use the BB when I have access to WiFi. I use my iPod Touch because it does email much better and the browsing experience can't be beat on a small screen.

I wouldn't say BB's don't handle email well. I think it handles email very well. But there are definitely things a BB can't do - store my 15,000 high-res images, 100 hours of video, make movies, VPN, Citrix access...

I use my notebook a lot less often, but use desktop just as much. I don't think it'll ever replace either one for me because of screen size and power you get from full sized machines.

My emails include a LOT of links in HTML messages. In Gmail it shows as "Procedure for this thing", or "PDF for that thing", or "Image for inclusion". You get the idea. In BB email it shows the actual link, not the linked text. Some of these links can be two screens long. It is a major pain to get past that. If there are 2 or 10 links in a message the message is not readable in BB mail. That's not handled very well to me.

I use the Gmail app on my BB to actually READ my mail and both my GMail and Google Apps accounts set up through BIS for the push notification until Google makes the app a true IMAP client.

I rarely ever want to follow the link from my device, but I NEVER want to SEE the link. Using the Gmail app I keep threaded conversations, labels, search and stars. I also get a nice view of the link text, underlined and blue, but not the entire link. I don't expect all of those things from BB mail, but properly formatted linked text should be a no brainer. The excuses for why are meaningless. If "security" were the actual reason for not doing it in the past then why are they doing it now? Links are more dangerous now, IMHO than in years past.

And yes, I know, OS 4.5 is coming. It isn't here yet for me. Having a BIS account and the Gmail app isn't ideal, but it makes it all work for me. YMMV.

I use my computer at work for most of what I have to do, which is 99% web-based. I rarely use my home computer except for pictures and music, and backing up the BB, oh and syncing. I think within the next 5 years people who use the computer for mostly web-based tasks will have a complete handheld alternative. Heck the only time I really need to use the computer at home is when I need to view a website or an email that does not display properly on the BB. Other than that I don't use it.

I am currently looking for a solution that will allow FTP or some other secure remote connection to my desktop at home so I can upload my photos to the hard drive. For example...weekend trip...take pics...upload before I go to bed...when I wake up they are at my home desktop or VM somewhere. If it can't be done via the BB, it can be done with a UMPC using the BB or WiFi for internet connection...either way the need for the home PC is greatly greatly reduced for me because of my Curve.

Anyway I feel that the handheld will eventually become a replacement for a computer for people who mainly do web based tasks.
