Question DataVault Software Question

Please Login to Remove!

I have been reading post about DataVault software for my Blackeberry. I have another question about the software. When you install the software on your PC to do a back up and to sync all of your passwords, is that software on your PC also encrypted by DataVault ? Do you need a password to open the program on your PC? What would happen if you lost or someone stole your laptop ? Are all your passwords safe on you laptop which were transfered from your Blackberry for backup purposes ?

Thanks for your replies:

Yes, it is encrypted and password protected on the PC.

Great software. I still use Password Safe since it's just faster on my PC. But to sync passwords onto my BB without having to type on the small keyboard, Datavault is great.

The PC app also can populate those passwords in IE and Firefox. Since it requires a password, it is safer than having the browser remember the info.

Another cool feature is after you enter the username and password at a website, you hit the Save button on the Datavault toolbar in IE or Firefox. This saves the website address and the login info to Datavault. No need to type it into Datavault. You then add the phone number, account number or other info you want to add to the entry, if any, and sync to the BB.

The PC plug-in does not work with the latest version of Firefox, but the version just prior is fine. The plug-in works fine with all versions of IE I've tried, including 8.

I think you will like it. I've ended up using it as a simple flat file db for the PC as well as the BB, and store assorted stuff regarding network configuration, etc., there as well.
