Default 4G...Tour Capable?

Please Login to Remove!

Is the tour capable of hitting 4G speeds? I'm with sprint and I'v heard sprint does have 4G in some locations.

The only device out for 4g to my knowledge is a laptop card.... If it is 4g, it will say it on the box/site.... If it doesn't say it... It isn't. Simple

... but the Tour (along with the Storm) is EvDO Rev A, making its network speeds significantly faster than previous CDMA BlackBerry devices (EvDO Rev 0).

He knows far less about BlackBerrys than you think.

The correct answer was "No, the Tour is not 4G compatible".

The rep. knows as much about BlackBerrys as I know about cars.

No, a 4G model of Blackberry may come out.
It wont be called the Tour, it may have wi-fi etc etc.

Just like the whole "tour with wi-fi" coming out, I have a feeling they'll rename that something else.

They spent so long before making a 3G BB for T-mobile.
I cant imagine getting a 4G BB before its well established.

Verizon to Deploy LTE 'As Close to All-At-Once As Possible'

Today, 1:46 PM by Eric M. Zeman

Speaking in an interview, Verizon Wireless' senior vice president and chief technology officer Tony Malone indicated that the company is going to launch its Long Term Evolution 4G network across as much of the U.S. at the same time as possible. Malone said, "We want to give our customers a significant footprint," rather than offer trial markets spread here and there. Malone said the LTE network will overlay -- not replace -- its CDMA-based 3G network, and noted that it will be able to use the same towers and equipment to power both networks. Malone said there will not be a hard switchover from one network to another, instead, he said, "You will need new devices to take [full] advantage of LTE. But there won't be a need to force migrate." Verizon will serve both its CDMA and LTE customers concurrently. Verizon has said that it will launch 25 to 30 LTE markets during 2010, covering some 100 million POPs.

And does that give any hint as to when a 4G BlackBerry will come out?

There is no 4G network in the US, yet.

Some people call EVDO rev A '3.5g' because EVDO rev 0 was 3g and rev A is faster.

I suppose you could call rev A 4G, but it's really a revision of existing tech and not a true fourth-generation tech.

4G has already been launched in a handful of US cities.

Let me google that for you
