When I try to add a new contact I get this message. I have 5 email accounts on my phone and there is 1 contact list called unknown with over 11,000 entries. My largest contact list is 17,956 and another has 2,995 entries and none of the others have the same number of entries as the unknown one.

1) is there a limit to the number of entries in a contact list? What do I do to continue to add more entries?

If you are getting that message, there appears to be a limit. Didn't know the upper limit, but it appears that you just hit it.

I guess my question is, do you really need that many? I have 1200+ and I thought I had a lot.

Where would I find it? May have been the result of doing a device switch when I got a new bb. I know I have various duplicate entries also and don't know how to clean that up.

Look at Options > Status > menu key > Database sizes
does it show there as unknown?

You can run the loader.exe and > Restore > Selective Restore and highlight that one database and click CLEAR to remove it from the device.

The one listed as unknown is 11801 contacts and in status its size is 3,129.8k

I have no idea why I'd have 17k contacts in the main address book either. I think that using google sync and doing device switches a couple times I have duplicate entries. I'd be surprised if I actually had 5 or 6k contacts in the one that has 17k.

loader.exe comes with either Desktop Manager or device OS.
