I installed BB today, however, I have three e-mail accts on my BB currently, and the text where it lists my e-mail accts on BBToday is all jumbled up. Anyone seen this?

It constantly locked up and gave me a message overflow error, so I deleted it. Back to the Dimension Today theme, which unfortunately causes some pretty bad lag....

Good stuff...So far, so good, although I gather that the effectiveness of bbSpell ought to be greatly reduced with SureType and a quality Custom Wordlist.

Default Can Someone Provide Instructions Please - Gosh Darn It!?

Wish I could get BBtoday weather to work at all. Every time I try to change the location ID it always goes back to some place in Texas! Not that TX is a bad state, it just isn't where I am right now...
I have searched and searched, and while lots of people apparently have this problem of tunnel failure on BBToday and no IIIP on BBWeather, no one provides understandable instructions. I PROMISE that if you help me do this I will write appropriate instructions so this disappears as a problem.

HOW DO YOU "DISABLE THE BUILT-IN FIREWALL" and
HOW DO YOU DISABLE THE MDS PROXY (whatever that is) IN THE PROGRAM?

What's the procedure please?

Angry BBToday Won't Work on T-Mobile 8700g

BBToday does not work on a T-Mobile 8700g. It does not give you any option to disable the MDS proxy box, but just continues to provide the "could not open tunnel - failed" message where the weather and stocks update should go. It also jumbles the e-mail address listings.

BBWeather doesn't work on a T-Mobile 8700g, even with the Disable MDS Proxy box checked and the appopriate city code entered and with multiple reboots conducted. It just comes back each time with "Error: could not open tunnel - failed".

When I figure out how to uninstall this I'll update this string.

BTW - I had not a single response from any of the 80,000 registered users on this board about how to fix this, and given that there are dozens of posts about this problem, and no solution has ever been posted, you can understand my disappointment. Where are the boffo bulging brain blackberry backers?

Default BBToday Kills Your T-Mobile 8700g - Don't Use It!

My T-Mobile has been severely screwed up by this BBToday program. The machine now locks up immediately upon reboot (dozens of times) and all access to the machine is blocked. So I can't even get to the screen where I could delete this pig. I fear I will now have to return the unit to T-Mobile and get another one.

Other users are warned,

Do not try to use BBToday on a T-Mobile 8700g.

I don't use BB today but I do use BB weather and it works on my 8700g. Did you go into options, then advanced options, then TCP, then next to APN type wap.voicestream.com and click save and it should work then.

Default BBWeather 8700g Installation Procedure

Big thanks to phillyslickster for his excellent guidance.

I had to take the battery out of my machine to get it unstuck to eventually delete BBToday and BBWeather earlier this morning.

BBWEATHER 8700g INSTALLATION PROCEDURE:
  1. I downloaded BBWeather again by e-mailing the over the air link to my blackberry and clicking on it in my inbox (I can't post the link since I haven't posted at least ten times here yet, how weird is that?)
  2. went to BBWeather options
  3. entered the four letter/four number city code which I got from the weather.com site by looking at the URL
  4. checked the box "Disable MDS Proxy" and saved
  5. then went to Blackberry Main Options Menu (the wrench on the front screen)
  6. went to advanced options
  7. went to TCP
  8. next to APN I typed what phillyslickster wrote above which I can 't write here and saved
BBWeather now works.

Very good - so the major problem was you didn't have the APN for T-Mobile typed in, right.

Default Procedures Are The Key

NJ,

Do you remember that Tom Hanks Movie about Apollo 11 where the teams at NASA HQ were all working hard in the back room to come up with a procedure for the almost doomed guys in space to implement to solve their problem with running out of oxygen? This is like that.

I don't know what APN stands for, and don't need to know.

I don't know what I typed in except that the letters I typed in solved the problem, so maybe that is the "APN" for T-Mobile but since it doesn't say T-Mobile anywhere I can't confirm it.

At least now when someone looks for information on this there is a procedure that gets them a functioning BBWeather software upload.

I am not prepared again to risk loading BBToday, which I would really like, unless I have some assurance that it won't blow up my machine again. Any thoughts? Is there a procedure for BBToday that goes step by step and doesn't leave out anything or assume some knowledge on the part of the user that they may not have? A procedure that solves the "tunnel" problem?

Would love to see it and then no one has to write about this ever again on this board.

Ah yes - read the procedures. A very good thing. There are many sticky threads FAQs that all new users should read.. All of them.

Included in the threads are the APNs for all carriers. And Voicestream was a predecessor to T-Mobile.

Not sure what the diatribe about Apollo 13 was, but it was very entertaining. And I'm sure all the people running BBToday are smiling.

I've downloaded BBCorrector, but it's asking me for a server URL, username, and password....what do I type in for these? Or, how do I register for these?

Installed BBToday and was working for a minute or two. I clicked the wheel on the Messages component and the entire program froze up, wouldn't respond at all. I was able to Alt+Back out of the program to the Home screen, and uninstall the app from the Options.

And same problem as IanHummel.. the display of the messages component was garbled and overlapping itself.

Using a BB 7250 on Telus network with the latest BB system software installed.
