Cool SMS and MMS showing number instead of name

Please Login to Remove!

Hey,

My sister just bought 8310. She has the same problem - when receiving an sms, she just sees the number and not the name! Is there any solution for that?? Please help.
Thanks,
Branka

No, I didn't think you had done that. There are other reasons for this problem to have occurred. In your OP, you mentioned nothing about receiving calls and seeing the number, otherwise, I wouldn't have made my suggestion. I hope you get it sussed. Sorry I tried to help.

Thank you, I appreciate your honesty.
I'm using an 8520, as my profile states, and I can open the SMS/MMS window, click the Menu button and go to General Options. In that window, there is the option to "Display Name" Yes/No as well as other options.
Here's a screen shot of my settings. I always see the number and a little pic if I have assigned one to the initial contact. Let us know if this does not change things for you.

You can't get BlackBerry data (including the BlackBerry Browser) without a BlackBerry Data Plan from your carrier.

No, the browser icon is linked to service books...service books you get from having a BLACKBERRY DATA PLAN.
So, without the plan - no service books - no browser.

Ok, since I cant get back my browser icon by all standard ways, I came up with an idea. Do you think if I upload a browser (Mini Opera, Google mobile....) to my BB, it will work???? Oh yeah, I also entered APN settings from my carrier.

It sounds like you have a GENERIC DATA PLAN and not a BLACKBERRY DATA PLAN.
