Default The greatest news yet

Going through my daily updates of PlayBook news, I came across this very curious and delightful gem.

BlackBerry Bridge to Allow Media Card AND Internet Browsing! - BerryReview

It appears that not only will the PB allow you to tether to the internet via the Bridge application, but it will also be able to access files stored on your BlackBerry smart phone. To me this is HUGE! Who needs removable memory when you have that on your phone? I have a 32 gig SD on my Torch which never leaves my side. If this blog pans out to be true and I can access, my music from my Torch through the PB, I might not store a single MP3 on my tablet. Why clutter the space with redundancy? That means I'm even more happy that I decided to go with the 16 gig device over the 32 gig.

I so hope this is true.

Oh and by the way ... here's another bit of pleasing news/
How To: Use Wifi Sharing on the Blackberry Playbook to Transfer Files | TheUnlockr

You can drag and drop files from your PC to your PlayBook over WiFi.

I'm liking what I'm hearing... it's gonna be a different setup, but sounds like it will be pretty seamless after getting used to it.

Yep. Caught this yesterday evening. It's been fascinating to see bits of info rolling out as we approach the release date, especially when undocumented features begin showing up.

I got my tracking number yesterday for delivery on Tuesday... can't wait.

Yeah, this is really big so I can't, for the life of me, figure out why RIM isn't sounding off the horns from the top of mountains with these features.

I'm thinking of so many possibilities of keeping storage on my micro SD (or even separate ones) and accessing them from my PlayBook when needed. From what I understand, the Word to Go is pretty impressive as word editor (although not as good as the PC version). Just being able to receive a document via email attachment, and having the ability to modify it and send it back out over my PlayBook on the fly is a tremendous convenience.

And if it turns out that the PlayBook can access video and other media file types, I drool at the thought of having a separate 16 gig SD say, and dedicating that to movie files for my entertainment purposes without cluttering my PlayBook with memory that I use occasionally.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for updates on this news. Tuesday can't come quick enough.

I know RIM has been scolded for 'throwing together at the last minute' but they've always been that way.

This time we don't have the months on end delay from the carrier, they just push the latest stable build once its ready! A plus I think.

OK so it seems that media files can't be executed over this medium - darn but documents can.

BTW,

BlackBerry Bridge alone does NOT allow for Intranet Browsing that is enabled by default using the Files app on the BB and if enabled on BES ... something I need to look into tomorrow morning.

Great news though for everything else - even browsing using the BB6's browser and STILL going to sites where Flash can load on the PLayBook; Bookmarks available & updated to the BB unit.
