Is it on the phones memory or is it on the sim card for a 7100t?

Im switching carriers and would like to take all my contacts with me to my new phone and sim card. If its on the SIM card then great because I can get my hands on a sim card reader. Thanks

No, it is not on the SIM card. It is stored on the BlackBerry itself. If your going to use the same BlackBerry you wnt have to do anything other than inserting the new SIM. This assumes your BlackBerry has been unlocked. Otherwise, install BlackBerry Desktop Manager and use the backup/restore option.

Well I will be using a new phone so I guess I will have to reload the names and numbers. My BB is unlocked so if I want to go back to it I can.

Will using desktop manager help when going to a different phone? Will the backup that is created be able to be used by a differetn phone OS, say Symbian?

The key is to use a third-party PIM such as Outlook, Lotus Notes, or ACT! (see System Requirements) to manage your contacts (I use Time and Chaos 6). That way, contacts (names, numbers, addresses and more) can be created once, edited infinitely and synced to mobile devices through mobile managers such as BlackBerry Desktop. Save yourself time and trouble by investing in PIM contact management.

When I switched to my BB7100i, my previous phone was a Nokia on a different carrier. I synched everything into outlook, and then synched outlook with my BB, and it moved everything.

Im going the opposite direction. My outlook should be synched with my BB so if my nokia will synch with outlook, I should be fine I guess.

Verify that your Outlook to BlackBerry Desktop mappings are consistent with the Field mapping list for the PIM Data Migration Wizard.
