Question Same problem on 2nd 8900!!

Please Login to Remove!

I'm currently waiting for my 3rd t-mobile 8900. My last two have both been returned for the same problem. While talking on the phone the sound would begin to intermitently cut out about twice a second with a loud click. It was like someone was had a switch and was shutting the speaker on and off just to annoy me. Both times this happened I contacted T-Mobile Blackberry support and they had me do the following both times: Pull battery - check, try Sim card in another phone (worked fine)- check, wipe phone - check. Nothing worked. I suspect it's a software issue but T-Mobile says a wipe would fix a software problem so it must be a hardware problem so "have another phone and sorry for the inconveinience". I'm going to be more careful with what Apps I put on the phone. Except I MUST have Slacker, Slingbox, Podtrapper. Has anyone else had this problem.

Well, you've eliminated hardware, as this is now three.

I haven't received the third one yet to "break it in" but I agree. It seems like a pretty unusual problem to happen to the same person on two different units. Guess I should be glad the TMO rep gave up and just decided to send a replacement. I did a backup of the first phone and restored the backup files to it's replacement. I wont do that on the coming replacement in case the software glitch is somewhere in a restored file.

I'd also suggest loading apps one at a time; if the problem doesn't occur, add the next one.

Have you ruled out the battery? I've seen some strange battery issues lately on the 8320 Curve and the Bold.

I've tried two different batteries without any change. As for loading Apps one at a time, it's worth a try but the problem started almost a month after I loaded any new apps. Between the the phone problems and a 3 month ongoing issue with auto pay problems, I may be heading to Verizon after this contract. Paying extra for a one year contract may be a godsend

Could it also be a carrier/tower issue? Do you have a strong signal? T-Mo service in fringe areas isn't the best. plus their network isn't as large as the other US carriers.
