Default Playbook & LEAP authentication

Please Login to Remove!

I just received my Playbook, YAY! I am having a hard time connecting it to Wi-Fi at my work though. We use LEAP authentication type, but I do not see that as an option. Does anyone else have this issue, or have a suggestion?

Thanks!
Rob

Ugh, have you heard if this will be an option down the road? I work for a hospital, and we could put hundreds on the floors if it can do LEAP.

I am able to connect to our LEAP enabled SSID as we broadcast it. It asks me for my credentials. However - I can not enter proxy information - so can not use this network for internet access.
I can not manually create a connection to the LEAP network - as the GUI does not allow for LEAP information.

Wish I knew. Is it possible to add in a diff type of connection or are you stuck on LEAP?

Pretty much stuck with LEAP. It takes an act of God to change things around here

LEAP is a Cisco encryption, correct? Maybe they will create an app to address it.

Has anyone tried using a LEAP profile that is working on a Torch... then Bridge to get profiles across... and THEN see if you can access wifi via LEAP? I saw my profile come across. But I haven't been to an office where I could test it yet.

When you bridge your BB to the PB - yes - it pulls the wifi profiles from the BB. Then if you go in to the WiFi section on your PB - and in the selection box next to "Select a network" and choose "Saved Networks" then you can see the ones it pulled from your BB. If you click on your corporate one - you will see the LEAP authentication portion, choose your CA Certificate, etc. You can also enter HTTP proxy information.

Here is the fascinating thing... If you enter the proxy information (which I assume most corporate networks require) - your bridged applications no longer work!! I can not connect to email, calendar, contacts, etc. That doesn't make any sense. Apparently - the "Messages" bridged application is really just a web browser that pulls that data from your BB?

According to our proxy error page - it is trying to get to http://127.0.0.2:187/messages

Wow.

Interestingly enough, it DID work. I looked at the settings and noted it said PEAP instead of LEAP. I turned on multi-access point access. And it all died. Yeah, I shouldn't have dinked with it. I deleted all the wifi profiles. Removed the bridge pairing. And basically started over. It brought all my profiles back and everything is working great.

It still should be easier to do. I'm sure that will come in an update. I'm pretty happy with the ability to connect with the office network this way.

I'm in the same boat trying to get my PB to attach to our corporate wi-fi network using LEAP. I got as far as bridging the BB to PB and saving the successful BB wifi LEAP profile on my PB but when I try connecting on my PB using that saved profile (which shows using PEAP authentication not LEAP) I get a "Failed to connect to the network" error. Am I missing something here? I've tried connecting while bridged to the BB and without with same results. Any sugestions?

I just deleted the BB wifi network (LEAP) that the PB pulled down when it was bridged and now I can no longer retrieve that profile from my BB. My BB can still connect to my corp. Wifi network using LEAP but the saved profile no longer registers as a "saved" network on the PB...HELP!

I have found it is not consistent with all LEAP implementations. :( I have the profile that works well with all my locations in the US and Canada. But doesn't work at all in my Mexico & Peru locations. The BB connects to all of them . But the PB seems to be hit and miss. Sigh. Hear's hoping we get native LEAP support in an upcoming release.

Try deleting and recreating the Bridge.

I've tried many times to recreate the bridge (which works fine) or deleting all saved profiles on the PB, connect on my BB then bridge again but the BB profile for the saved "LEAP" network no longers shows on the PB. Extremely frustrating since I actually thought I was making progress.

I missed a little something on your process to re-enable the bridge. Did you also delete the bluetooth connection between the BB and the PB? I removed both the bridge and the bluetooth connection. I also deleted all the wifi profiles that had been synched from the BB. When I reestablished the bridge, my LEAP profile was resynch'd.
