Unhappy Uncaught Exception:java.lang.ClassCastException

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, I got my first BlackBerry (8100)less than a week ago and am already about to return my second one. The Uncaught Exception message keeps coming up and not leaving, even after removing the battery. I really like the phone but am now going to have to get something else. Is there anything else I can do, I cant understand why these phones are so popular when there seems to be so many problems with them?

Just as a guess, what additional software have you installed on the BB? I suspect that your problems might be due to that.

I have not put any additional software on it. When I connect it to computer it will not even recognise it.

There aren't "many problems" with BBs. They're a highly reliable device - but even reliable devices are prone to a few problems now and again.

My suggestion is that you try reinstalling your OS to see if this corrects your problems. The latest one and instructions on how to do so can be found here: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ilanguage.html

very true, i'm just surprised to have two phones replaced in one week. though it is fair to say that the customer support for blackberry hear in New Zealand is not that great.

I'm not sure how to install a new OS when the BB is not recognised on any computer i have tried. So im waiting for a 8110 to arrive and hope that works out better.

thanks for your ideas though, i will keep persisting
