Default BB Professional Software .cannot get running.

Please Login to Remove!

Was trying to configure a free license for one user on the network to get access to the shared calendar.

scenario:

win 2003 standard non sp. does any one know if IT JUST WONT work on anything under SP1? if thats the case... then i know the prob.

exchange 2003.not configured as a true email server.. using just for mail storage and calendar access. all email is received via pop3 on individual nodes.

the trouble i was having at first is the BProfSoftware would not fetch the users activation email. so i bypassed by doing hooked up activation.. was able to sync it but no calendar or emails were getting synchronized via wireless.

now i understand the scenario is not the typical.. so does anyone know if i can even use this software just for calendar sync? and leave the emails pop3.
Shouldn't the BPS pick up the activation email anyway even if its being received pop3 and put in the exchange store?

and im so confused about the BESAdmin username.
when i run the Manager on any username besides BESAdmin it says cannot access mail store. so do i just use this username to configure it and thats it? or does the system have to be logged in for this to work. Its a service so shouldn't it do its thing in the background no matter what username is logged in. that would only make sense.

sorry for the run-on confusion. but any help is appreciated.
thanks

addl info..
all the tests pass.. the router passes, the thing has access to database no problem.
i will say i never noticed any activity under the connection service tab.

and another scenario question..
since its POP3 , and yes it makes a diff if the initial fetch is on the node or the phone ... if this thing actually gets up to working status.. will it forward any pop3 received emails to the phone once they are fetched by the pc in the office? or is it only applicable if its a inhouse email server.

Does not work with shared calendar, only the activated users calendar.
You log into the manager with only BESadmin, if you try with anything else it can break BPS communication.

Exchange needs to get the email via SMTP. If it fetches via POP3 it was not the one to get it first and not considered a new email.

what do you mean. well its a small network. and one main user who im trying to use this license with has his personal calendar shared with the rest of the office. I am just trying to get him streamline access with his handheld.

or is this a different scenario?

and are you talking about emails in general or just the activation email... well i think i just answered my own question. lol.
so the only way to activate is with dongle right.?

i think my non connectivity prob lies somewhere in the lack of updates. guess its another couple of hours of endless clicking on the same buttons. ughhhhh

thanks for the reply man!

If his calendare is shared thats not an issue solong as it is in the exchange mailbox.

The activation email needs to be unmodified. Cable will have to be used.

Did you watch the install videos?

BES wireless activation does work, even, if the mail is polled by the exchange pop3 connector.
Only, make sure, after you sent the actication message from the handheld, push the pop3-connectors "connect now" button every 30 seconds.
(For whatever reason, the pop3 connector will not poll the mailbox faster then every 15 monutes. This is too late for a sucessful activation, but if you poll the mail manually it will work)
