Full HTML browser is always in the BB.. If you have a BES/MDS, the browser icon will show up. And/or if your carrier enables BIBS, another one will show that doesn't go through your company's MDS.

Default question

herm... ok - so it seems that the browser is NOT available on the device.

so let's work with options. for those that do NOT have BES -
i have never seen reqwireless in action - correct me if i am wrong but there is a small fee for this - but this browser works just as well as BES? this work around?

Also - can anyone verify that the new verichat indeed does work for the verizon device as well?

if so - this seems like the work arounds are sufficient and pretty cheap.

regards,
dolo

exactly.. all bb's have full html browser (and flash/javascript even) built-in -- even the 7750. its just a matter of the carrier or company installing a private or public MDS service somewhere in their network and pushing the service book into your device.

Okay, the full HTML browser is dormant somewhere in the Blackberry and with BES/MDS, you'll be able to access it, fine. But the fact of the matter here is that Hugman85 says he's using BWC not BES and has the full HTML browser. My question is, did Verizon, as you say Patrickh, enable their BIBS so that the browser shows up out of the box? (Not whether or not the software is hidden in the Blackberry) If anyone knows, please advise.

Just recieved my 7250 for Verizon Wireless. My company does not have a business account with Verizon but I was able to order one with no problems. Once I had the Unlimited Blackberry plan turned on by CS, sales screwed up the order, the browser appeard. This device is the same as the 7290.

Just need to figure out how to put pictures on it as the 7290 had them on the device.

All BlackBerries contain a hidden browser.

Some people were able to get their BlackBerry Browser just by calling Verizon and asking for it. A new service book gets pushed to the BlackBerry to "enable" the hidden browser it over the air. You may want to give this a try to call Verizon.

Got my 7250 today from Verizon. :D All I can say is I could not be happier. HTML browser is enabled, version 4.0.0.204, fast, crystal clear phone operation (as clear as T-Mobile). If the reliabilty is as good as I understand the other Blackberry's are well this is THE PHONE TO OWN. Now I just got to learn how to use this monster. It also came with desktop version 4 software.

Thank you all for the post you sent me over the edge.

My price with discounts was $249 (excluding sales tax), I was eligible for lots of discounts, retail is $399. Purchased at the store, not on the shelves, but it is in the computer. Got it overnight via Direct Fulfillment.

I am a new Blackberry user but will be happy to try to answer any questions. You may have to provide detailed instructions for me to answer. I have not installed any third party s/w yet.

Default How do you change?

I presently have the 7750 w/ verizon on my company BES. If I switch over to the 7250 how do I get it set up to start sending all of my information to the new unit? Does the IT department have to make a change or is it switched over with the desktop software?

Default Verizon 7250

Does anyone know if the new BB 7250 has international capabilities? This has been a major reason why my company has stayed away from Verizon even though they have the best U.S. coverage

It is a CDMA only phone so very limited international since almost all the international carriers use GSM.

adamy12,

The closest equivalent of the Verizon 7250 is the Cingular/AT&T 7290. It has almost all the same features.

guess what i found ... 7250 is now on the verizon site along with a 39.99 promotional plan of 1000 anytime minutes, but the link does not work outside of the verizon wireless "my account" ... for those of you with an account at vzw, login and under the account profile on the main page, click on ezmove.

in ezmove, you should see both the 39.99 voice plan (i did notice this was available in san francisco but not boston or new york) and ability to select the 7250 for 349 with a 2 year plan.

happy thumbing!

Default No EVDO

I spoke with two upper level Wireless Data support techs @ VZW today and they confirmed the 7250 will only be a 1X device - no EVDO planned, software or otherwise.

That's a shame if true. Unfortunately, knowing Verizon, it might be true.

Hopefully RIM will have an EV-DO software release for the 7250 eventually on another carrier at least (Sprint, Bell Mobility, Telus). They chose a very recent CDMA chipset that happened to have both 1X and EV-DO, I would hope that EV-DO is eventually utilized in the longer term!

At the moment, Verizon is the first carrier to have EV-DO in North America, but others should follow. It's possible the EV-DO in the 7250 might even never be enabled, except on prototypes. And be kept for a future BlackBerry model. Who knows.

Is there any real indication that this might be EVDO other than someone 'may' have heard it from a RIM salesrep? I can't find any RIM documentation says that it's EVDO or will be EVDO or even mentions EVDO...

I'm beginning to think that this model being EVDO is simply wishful thinking. Please prove me wrong...
