Exclamation BB Storm 9500 Screen doesn't entirely light up. Please help

I've had issues with my Storm, but they were OS related. Now it seems like there is a hardware problem or something. The screen doesn't light up. Battery pull many times... but those didn't fix the problem.

Have you checked your backlight settings (Options> Screen and Keyboard)?

I don't want to be rude or something, but how can I can check my backlight settings if the screen doesn't light up? I've searched Google, but didn't find anything... so now I'm reinstalling OS. I'll let you know if it works.

Thanks

Updated to .148. The screen lights up, but doesn't respond anymore. When it works it display some weird stuff like a distortion. Then turns off again. Now I can't turn it on again. The device is ON, but the screen doesn't light up.

Edit: I noticed that the phone heats up like crazy. What can I do?

I think I'm having the same problem.

I was on a roadtrip and was using my phone quite a bit. Facebook, IM and Pandora apps when it froze on me, keypad and screen would glitch before freezing. I too pulled the battery out and restarted many times. I can tell that it's on, but the screen is completely dark. At first it would turn on, I would be able to do only a couple things then freeze then go dark and then not light back up. Until after awhile it simply stayed dark.

Yeah, that's the way it goes. I think it's a hardware failure. I'll head to a service repair this week when there's time. If you find a workaround please let me know

Definitely sounds like time to call for service. Often the carrier will permit an exchange in these circumstances.

Like said I bought the cellphone from the web. It's in service now. It should be ready next week. I thought I did something wrong, but I read at CB that many users are experiencing the same issue without dropping it, without installing something new, or without taking the handheld for a swim. I dropped it 3-4 times, but several months ago, I upgraded and it worked well, and I didn't drop it in the water. I don't think the screen is broken as it sometimes works (even if it works for 20 seconds), I think there is a problem with its connectors or something. I think there the dust, and oily hands (although I wipe it ~30 times/day with the cloth) cause the problem. I'll find out soon.
