Default BBM Privacy

I love my BB Torch, specially the BBM,because it can send and received pictures faster than picture messaging. And you can even request for higher quality pictures. My Question is If I deleted the pictures and messages in my phone is it really deleted forever?or stay somewhere in the net?waiting for somebody to hack it.

I am pretty sure that BBM is a PIN type message ment only for phone to phone, I dont think it bounces off any servers or has a chance to copy anywhere. I could be wrong though.

It goes via RIM servers. From what I understand about forensics, any message, email, text, PIN, etc. if it has been saved by the carrier, can be recovered under a court order, by the carrier. Short of that, I don't think it can be brought back from the delete bucket.

The carriers are required to save all text and email that passes thru their systems from their customers. Now guess who has access to those messages. Did you ever wonder how the authorities find kiddy porn or your company sees private corporate email that employees should not be sending out of the company?

Same with BBM. It's private until the govt wants to see it. In other words, it's not. Funny stuff. The Google hypocrites got all righteously indignant about the US govt wanting access to their servers, but when the Chinese govt told them to bend over or lose access to the market, they thought about it for a nanosecond. Same with RIM. Faced with loss of business RIM gave it up on their Mid-East customers without much struggle. For obvious reasons the latter doesn't bother me so much. Hope I'm not out of line...

An appropriately worded court order will reveal the messages and attendant identifying information. The term privacy has to be placed in context. In terms of ensuring that just you and the recipient of your message have access to it as the conversation bounces back and forth between you, BBM with it's device based PIN system is pretty good. In terms of privacy from anyone seeing the messages at anytime under any circumstances such a thing does not not now exist if it ever really did.
