Default OS: 8530 5.0.0.1266/5.0.0.734 (Multilanguage)

Please Login to Remove!

Software For BlackBerry® Curve(TM) 8530 smartphone

BlackBerry Handheld Software v5.0.0.1266 (All Languages)

Package Version: 5.0.0.1266
Consisting of:

* Applications: 5.0.0.734
* Software Platform: 4.2.0.335
* File name: 8530AMEA_PBr5.0.0_rel1266_PL4.2.0.335_A5.0.0.734_C ellular_South.exe
* File size: 102.8MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

* Download Software: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...976E893F4D554B

Instructions to install, regardless of carrier.

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you've deleted or think you've deleted it in the folder previously) and voila, it will allow you to update to the newly installed OS!
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

It is also now available from Cellular South, and it is significantly smaller despite being a multilanguage file (102.58 MB): https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...C9D4DB0C6BBE45

My phone just notified me of this version via wireless update, which apparently now works? Went ahead and started it.

Thread about it here - http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...plemented.html

After doing this upgrade 2 days ago, suddenly my 8530 battery life has gone from 3 days to less than 8 hours. Anybody else having this issue? Thanks.

Do you have Blackberry Messenger installed by the upgrade?

Default Battery life after upgrade

Not deliberately, I did the upgrade thru DM. I didn't de-select anything. How do I tell? Thanks

I've had this installed for a few weeks now, no issues. Looks like VZW posted their updated OS back in June.

I read the title thanks. When you open the link to download the software, it says clearly BLACKBERRY CURVE 8520. Thats the reason of my question.

I'm using the 5.0.0.822 on my 8520 and it works fine with no issuses. I don't think there is much of a difference between the .822 and the .1xxx. Which OS are you using now?

I didn't see an option from the drop-down for the 8530, only the 8520, and it won't see my device when I go to install it? I followed the link for the Cellular South page and was able to download this (at the bottom of the page).

I have a sprint 8530, and it doesn't seem to like the 8520 OS ( I can't get it to recognize the device at all, I have to use a specific 8530 OS)

You may want to PM the admin and let him know. I have this version, but I didn't get it from the link in the first post. Verizon pushed it to my 8530 via wireless update.

To delete the vendor.xml in windows 7 x64 the path is C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader\

I've upgraded from 5.0.0.1266 to 5.0.0.1319. and it worked with the Application Loader from the BlackBerry Desktop Manager 5.0.1. With the loader.exe, it didn't worked for me!
