Is there some way to attach a specific ringtone to a specific caller as i have been able to do with my cell phone?

Don't know what BB you have but on my 8700:

-Go into ADDRESS BOOK.
-Find the contact you want to assign a custom ringtone to and OPEN IT.
-Click the TRACKWHEEL and choose EDIT.
-Click the TRACKWHEEL and choose ADD CUSTOM PHONE TUNE.
-Choose the RINGTONE you want to assign to the contact.
-Click the TRACKWHEEL and choose SAVE.

In Profiles make a New Exception. You can choose one contact or several at once for each exception, and assign specific behavior to it.

This would be a little tedious as you would have to manually set the ringtone for each person. It would be esp. annoying if you wanted to change the ringtone for this set of people as you would have to do it manually.

It seems this method would work also but if the profile was set to a quiet one, the exception would supercede the profile and it would ring when you wouldn't want it to.

Yeah, but that's the point, to have a different ringtone assigned for each individual person of your choosing.

This is true, but at least with the latter method, you can set the "Use Profile" to "Active". This means that the exception will follow the active profile for Volume, and Vibrate settings of the Active Profile when you change it, but anytime it is set for a ringtone to play, the custome ringtone will be used instead of that set in the Active Profile.

Sorry I must have misread the question. I thought the OP was referring to caller groups and not just specific people.

Are you using OS 4.1?

If not it isn't a feature available to you.

you can check your OS by going to Options-About. It should say something like "Wireless Handheld (GPRS) v4.1.0.309" that's what mine says for my old 7105t. If you don't have 4.1 and you'd like to get it, go here: http://www.t-mobile.com/bbupgrade/
