Default Official US TMO 5.0.0.714 posted 6/22/2010

Please Login to Remove!

T-Mobile has posted a new version of 9700 software v 5.0.0.714 on or about 6/22

Go to Unsupported Browser

This may be old news -- but search didn't show it.

Also, I currently use an Official TMO version 5.0.0.586 -- and this new 5.0.0.714 is not showing up as an update for Over-The-Air update on my Blackberry.

PS: The Platform version is still 5.1.0146, which is the same as the 5.0.0.586 official US TMO release in May 2010.

.

714 is a great improvement over 586. Install it through DM if you have to.

If you have 586 installed correctly 714 should show up OTA.

I still prefer to use DM. Get a backup and it also restores apps.

Tmo releasing another update so soon is making my head spin. I'm used to waiting and waiting and waiting in between. Don't know if I can handle it.

Yeah. I wasn't payong attention and didn't see this one coming, so don't know even the gossip. Bu I do remember how the release of .586 was announced -- well a new release, not necesarrily .586 -- and then delayed about a week. It is interesting.

But they didn't put back the 'K' shortcut for password locking. I was hoping to see that they had. I know the jokes over the fuss being made over lock button, but the 'K' key shortcut had been there forever on QWERTY devices and I liked it.

Think i'll chime in. Went from the 586 to 714.

Everything seems fine. Doesn't seem to be any faster nor did I gain any memory. Haven't really noticed any bugs except maybe one. Not sure, but I notice when in my call log, and I try to call a number by pressing the send button, it does not go through. I find that happening a lot. I'll look through my call log, find the name, hit send put the phone to my ear and don't hear anything. Look back at the phone screen and its still at the call log, call never initiated.

Battery life also does seems not to be lasting at long. On average before, I'd go about 2 full days before charging. Now i'm getting 1 and a half days on average. Before, I've never seen less than a days worth of charge. I'm seeing more and more days of only get a days worth out of the battery, dead by end of day.

Wow! Neat, I'm doing a software update directly from the BlackBerry!
