Default OS: 8320 4.5.0.254/4.5.0.161 (EastAsia & English)

Please Login to Remove!

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.254 (EastAsia)

Package Version: 4.5.0.254
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.5.0.161
* Software Platform: 2.7.0.105
* File name: 8320EastAsia_PBr4.5.0_rel254_PL2.7.0.105_A4.5.0.16 1_Hutchison.exe
* File size: 88.91MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download Here:https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...2BAA6EBC8B872D

This download is from Hutchison but will work on ANY carrier's 8320 model BB. (Not 8300, 8310 or 8330)

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded. (Vista users be sure to right click on the .exe file and select "Run As Adminstrator.")
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Previous OS version here: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ast-asian.html

Any noticeable changes or any release notes?

Just wondering, I know it's not a big build difference, but it's been ages since we've seen a new OS for the 8320

Installing it right now

I am running 4.5.0.124. I downloaded 4.5.0.254 and when I run loader.exe it says no updates are required. Any thoughts?

Did you delete c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader\vendor.xml?

I loaded the update last night and my phone is working great! I don't know if it's just me but data connections seem to run faster and pages seem to load quicker.

i really want to load this new software, but my phone has been working very well. it is on the origninal OS (4.5.081 or whatever) and i dont want it to be less stable.
i use WIFI alot and so on.
i read the other thread on the .124 software i think and many people had stability issues.
any issues with this one? i would love faster wifi and such.

EDIT: i just downloaded and installed it. i will post how it works later.

dling now!!! Whoot!

What's the difference between .254 (which I downloaded) and this:

Quote:
Software For BlackBerry® Curve (TM) 8320 smartphone
BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.81 (EastAsia)

Package Version: 4.5.0.81
Consisting of:
* Applications: 4.5.0.55
* Software Platform: 2.7.0.68
* File name: 8320EastAsia_PBr4.5.0_rel81_PL2.7.0.68_A4.5.0.55_H utchison.exe
* File size: 73MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.
It looks the same, with a higher (therefore better?) version number? Should we be grabbing the .81 instead?

Thanks.

After using .254 for a few hours, it seems a little sluggish. My phone also seems less willing to switch to UMA while on WiFi in my home... More impressions later.

after using .161 from .124 my device was very slow until i pulled the battery twice, then the device load fine and the speed on opening and closing apps seem faster. resending the service books from my phone changed abit but nothing to worry about. over all seem like the device runs faster. side note is the radios turned off on my device and could not turn them back on until I let my device charge to 10% but wifi still worked so no interruption on my service.

Default getting Proxy error while trying to access download site

Proxy Error
The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request POST /Downloads/browseSoftware.do;jsessionid=BP4rdAqrEjnNiXXqOONSJ Q**.

Reason: Error reading from remote server

I will try from a different download location.

Default google talk

so far i like 254 (although i can't tell any major differences), but google talk stopped working (says error connecting to server). i updated to the newest google talk from blackberry, but still the same error. when i switched sim cards and put mine in my girlfriends phone running 81, google talk works fine. i had been having a few data connectivity issues before the upgrade so maybe it's unrelated, but now i've introduced too many variables and am wondering what is the reason it stopped working... if anybody else is experiences similar issues since upgrading to 254, please let me know so i can identify the source of my problem! other than google talk, everything is working fine.

i'm on t-mobile and use wap.voicestream.com in my APN settings (without this, the browser will still work but the gmail application won't).

thanks,
jetpeach

Wirelessly posted

Wireless upgrade has been in the options for a while now. Thanks Duckman, that makes sense. I was thinking of decimals, not whole numbers.
