Default keyboard hurts my thumbs

Please Login to Remove!

just got the curve, cant stand its keyboard. look at the oqo, sidekick, game controllers, nokia communicators, htc phones etc. these are devices you can use for long periods of time without much hurt. they all have some kind of space around the edge of the keyboard, even that space is simply keys that arent used much, so your thumbs dont cram in. the oqo and sidekick lx have great keyboards.

asked the rep at t-mobile how he types and he showed me this finger cradle he does. i think hes a contortionist.

is there an add on keyboard, or grip or something for this, or do you all just deal with its keyboard as is? if so, have you tried devices with spaced keyboards that have some side padding? how do you type?

typing one handed didnt seem so bad, just slow.

It just takes time, give it a few days and you will be fine..

Or if it bothers you that much get another device. The BB is great but the keyboard might not be right for you.

I was a die-hard Treo user for 2+ years but once I got my BB it's been smooth sailing. Best keyboard I've used so far, IMHO.

I've used 6 different BB models for long periods of time (I have been on a very active email list over all these years) without hurting my thumbs... Perhaps you should review how you're typing on the Curve. You could be pressing harder than you need to, holding it incorrectly or any number of things. As someone else mentioned, it could be your hands as well.

I don't see how space around the keyboard would affect typing for me. My hands and thumbs are never anywhere near the edges of the device or the keyboard. It would just be wasted space, IMO, and either result in smaller/more cramped keys or a wider device.

Do your hands actually touch the sides of the Curve when you type? If that's what you're doing I can totally see how your hands would be in pain. When I type the Curve rests on the fingers of both hands. The edges of the Curve are just about at the first knuckle. The thumbs are then free to move across the keyboard to type.

if it's too small, the 8700 has larger keys and the same design as the curve.

Wirelessly posted

I just saw a post about a slim key board you could buy.

Was $40.00 through Amazon or $100.00 regular price
I think it was in general forum
I wish my Tungsten E-2 key board worked with this BB

I am going to check into buying one because of my sight problems
