I switched out for that version and it won't connect the Blackberry to the computer. It hangs on ->Connect to Device And doesn't ever connect.

Also it won't let me view or change the firewall settings.

I am unable to back up my device because the Device Manager won't work. Any ideas?

Still no luck fixing the phone. Has anyone else had this problem?

you are probably going to have to wipe the device then. do you have any recent backup or any information you dont mind losing? Before all that though, try to Uninstall DM, and reinstall 4.2 sp 2.

If you still cannot connect after following the post above, use these

in case it wont connect
What to do next if Jl Cmder will not connect and wipe - BlackBerryFAQ.com
then follow the steps to install the new OS.

I did a fresh uninstall/install, with no luck. I haven't backed up since I got my 8310 so I would lose all of my GPS tracks and some phone numbers, but I guess I'll just take the loss.

I thought it was worth noting that when I was in range earlier I wasn't able to change the ringer volume and it wasn't rining. When I went to where the icon usually is to change, the selection bubble scrolled over it but there was no icon there. Very strange...

Could someone give me instructions for transferring my addresses to the sim card from my phone? Thank you.

You go to Address Book, high over an entry, press Menu > SIM Phone Book, and COPY ALL TO ADDRESS BOOK

In the DM after connecting if you select Options>Connection Settings (Do you see your PIN in the dropdown? I just had to see you lose your data.

I do see it if I run the test. The phone doesn't seem to be communicating with the SIM card.

Ok I wiped the phone and now when I try to open the application loader it gives me this message "The blackberry Desktop Software does not have Blackberry device software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator." Any ideas?

I think I need to install the latest Desktop software. 4.2.2.14 isn't working for me on my 8310. I can restore addresses to it and stuff just can't use the application loader.

Wirelessly posted (Curve 8300: Opera/9.50 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/4.0.10222/274; U; en))

From my experience those music files are corrupted. They need to be deleted and uploaded again. I'm not sure but I would try it.
