Our ex-BB admin was able to "recover" a Blackberry when it showed a white screen and it would not do anything else.

The user always did the five minute battery trick. The admin did not reload the OS and all the user's data was still there when he was finished, because generally they had no backup. The fix took about three minutes.

What is the magic trick to get it out of white screen?

Battery Pull? Lol? I have no clue. Either that or slamming it on a counter...

I have no clue of a "trick" to fix a white screen.

He may have disassembled the device and reseated the screen. It is hard to say. That is one advantage of keeping documentation, so the next person is able to resolve the same issues.

It is some kind of software issue where the BB freezes and the five minute battery pull does not work. There is nothing physically wrong with the unit.

This can sometimes be fixed with a standard battery pull while other times it requires a full OS reload.

Things really get fun when you realize you actually have damaged the device
