Just wandering, how many of you actually use the BB Messenger? Most of my friends would rather send a text.

While it's against the green and white blood running thru my veins to answer your question, I use it a lot - and so do all of my friends who have BlackBerrys.

A lot of people I know nowadays have BlackBerries so I've been using my BBM more and more.
You can always get the pin number of random people if you really wanted to use it

One of the main advantages of using bbm, or pin messaging for that matter, is speed. Bbm/pin messages go through rim as opposed to individual carriers, so they typically are faster.
That can come in handy, for instace, when you are at the big house and we are killing that "other school". They most likely would be slowing down cell carriers with their constant texting of "where did we go wrong?" or "we thought, after last year, that we might have a chance again this year!"

Rarely if ever. I should probably get better friends. Most like to get that other phone from the other fruit company.

My entire family has a BB. We use BBM constantly. Mainly because there is no 160 letter max, can send pictures and videos through it among other things. The new 5.0 version is really sweet. I still send a 1000 texts on top of BBM messages.

I only have several friends who own BB's and so use BBM as much as possible with them. I like that there is no limit on the length of the message and I have the new vers 5.0 and like to update my status daily and they have some cute smilie icons as well. I like the threaded conversation style, wish I had more friends on BB.

Another benefit is if you have international friends, you can send them a BBM message and not be charged international fees, unlike SMS.

I use it all the time. It also helps since I don't have a big text plan (500 outgoing text), so BBM is perfect for me. It also helps most of my friends are on BB anyway so I no longer use MSN.

There are some versions of the leaked BBM 5.0 that support sms (threaded) messaging. Hopefully, RIM will release at some point with that feature. Then you can sms right from within BBMessenger.

If you know anyone else that has a blackberry I'd recommend the messenger, it's great! I like it cuz it's unlimited characters, txts are only 160 that's it, u can send photos and songs really easily, you can see if the person is on their phone or if they're idle which is nice if you're awaiting a response. Plus you can just hit the Enter key and the message will go through, vs. hitting the trackball button twice to send that way. And it also tells you when the other person is typing which is great.
