I know its an old BES but my client doesnt want to spend money and go to BES 5.
Ive got an old copy of BES 4.1.7 and wondered if it was possible to upgrade an older BES 4.0 SBE to BES 4.1.7 SBE using the full install file besx_4.1.7.exe.
Is this possible?

4.0->4.1 still requires you to spend money on the upgrade.

Thanks. I know about that it'll cost. My wonder is that his original BES is SBE (Small Business Edition) limited to 15 users. Will the upgrade still limit his BES to SBE? Or will it prompt an error and just not work? Or prompt for an unlock code?

Yes - 4.1 did have an SBE edition. We then had to purchase an upgrade to go to full Enterprise at that point (which included 5 CALs).

you can run the professional installer for free still.

its only at 4.1.4, but it will work.
