Default Wet-Restore-Ideas-Keypad Not Working- Thoughts???

Please Login to Remove!

My cat spilled a cup of water and it got on my 8100 Pearl...It was on and currently plugged in. When I woke up, it was off...I've taken it apart per the disassembly instructions and it powers up, verifies security, etc...but the keypad doesn't work...The trackball does but no keys so it goes into lock mode within 10 seconds or so. Any suggestions? Is there a way for a hard reset? I don't mind losing everything on there as I have it backed up...Any thoughts?

It works to plug in and work via the desktop manager.

It may be too late but take a look at this Got Your BlackBerry Wet? - BlackBerryFAQ

The damage may already be done. How long did you leave it disassembled?

I did that...4 days...It really wasn't much water. Also, on the trackball. It works moving left to right, etc...but does not function as a key. Is there a way to maybe reload the entire OS to see if that would help? In addition, my 5 items that show on my screen for my theme changed as well???

You could try to reload the OS. I believe this is a hardware issue.

Since I have everything backed up, I'll be able to just put it right back on if that "should" work, correct?

What is the best way to reload the OS?

Yes, you should be able to restore all of your data from your backup.

How do I upgrade the OS on my BlackBerry? - BlackBerryFAQ

Follow this link to load an OS on your device. If you want to upgrade, check the sticky at the top of the 8100 section for the most current OS available for your device.
