My Results on a BB 7280 have been less than Steller with Cingular in Wisconsin. We are in a good GPRS location and I do get very good speed on the BB itself. When using the software tethered to a laptop I routinely have many websites that refuse to load or will load with no graphics on the laptop, but load perfectly fine on teh Blackberry. I have a Blackberry unlimited corporate plan and routinely use 40-80mb of service every month. I can use SRA Ramble for IM on the blackberry directly and also have the IPP service book.

Trillian works on the latop, but only over port 80 to AIM's servers. Speed is terribly slow on the laptop. I support 28 Blackberry's and many times in doing speed tests between the blackberry 7280 and the tether laptop the blackberry will render a website with full graphics long before the desktop has even a 1/4 of the images. So either something is wrong the mobishark software or Cingular is filtering somehow.

Is there a newer version 1.23 of the shark client on the BB. Maybe this is an inherent problem with the 7280 implementation. I have several 7290's that we tether using the built-in DUN and this works fine. We don't need to configure any proxy ports. I would think that it would be feasable for mobishark to write a wrapper for a device driver so that we could use the Windows DUN client and not have to both with proxy settings. The wrapper and PC software could do this internally. It would allow many more applications to work that do not have the ability to directly enter proxy information.

Very Happy 8700c user on Cingular. Works with both BES and Direct TCP. Very fast in comparison to the other devices. ...With the exception of possibly the 7250 on EVDO. Haven't tried that yet.

When I try to install this application via the application loader, I see a box that pops up after I select the .alx file and it says no software for your device has been found. I am on Verizon and using a 7130e.

I was looking in here, and I didn't see any 100% confirmation.

Is there anyone that can say for 100% sure that you won't be charged anything extra for this? (Nextel Unlimited BB Plan).

If you are talking about data charges.. their is nothing on nextel BB's that you don't already have a data plan for. WIth other carriers, they charge for their browser data (I assume wap but unsure) but with Nextel, anything you hit with that BB is covered in your data.

If you are getting this after upgrading to 4.1 OS it is a known issue. If you are still running on 4.02 OS I suggest you download software from Verizon called VZAccess Manager and use that. I was on 4.1 and lost the option to tether, I downgraded to 4.02 and with VZAccess Manager was back in business.

Download VZAccess Manager from here: http://vzw.smithmicro.com/download/

mediabb,
Are you still looking for testers. I downloaded the trial.

Telus 7250 user. Internet (Explorer) works fine. Pop mail works

I use Mailstreet Exchange hosting service via the http option (rather than VPN connection) which I cannot get to work so far. Any suggestions. If you need a beta tester for this, I'm game, or suggest how to get it to work, you've got another sale.

The best configuration mode would be to not require a proxy change (such that everything continues status quo...if that's not possible, how about the desktop client become a smart proxy, always running...if a network address is available, use that, otherwise, make the bb connection.... comments, suggestions or feedback on the idea welcome.

P.S. Did my email get through...same account as my account here, domain was desktopsolutioncenter.ca. No answer from it sent Sunday. Thought it unusual given your continued participation here.

Thanks in advance.

This is an old thread, and the application has come out of Beta test and been released already as a full working application.

Verizon , Rogers , Cingular , Telus , AT&T , Bell Mobility, Cincinnati Bell, O2 , T-Mobile ( US & UK) , Telcel , Telefonica Movil , Telstra , TIM (Italy) , Vodafone.

Please remember to return feedback (we included a 5 question survey) - Very simple and fast to complete. This will help tremendously in our endeavors with the development of this application and others soon to come.

Also we like to mention that our next version release of " The Shark Modem" will really include some really cool features that we know you'd love to take advantage of with the use of your Blackberry device. ... Stay Tune!!

Thanks!
