Default Storm 3 - the BB 9570

Please Login to Remove!

From BBLeaks.com

As of late there has been much speculation over the next device in the Storm series. We can today confirm that the BlackBerry 9570 will merely be a refreshed Storm2. While this may technically be the 3rd in line of the Storm series, does this mean it's the mysterious 'Storm3'?

The BlackBerry Storm 9570 will be the CDMA answer for a touchscreen device with OS 6, at least till the end of 2010. The 9570 has 512mb RAM, a 5MP camera, OS 6, and most likely a 624Mhz processor. The 9570 will keep the current Storm2 9520/9550 form factor and continue to use the SurePress, Piezo touchscreen technology. It is also rumored to be releasing in October.

So what exactly will the 9570 be? Is it going to be the Storm2.5 or (as it is technically) the Storm3? It is a bit hard to tell at this point. It is really up to you whether or not the 9570 is labeled as the Storm2.5 or Storm3. Nevertheless, the 9570 is just a pointless 'refresh' model to us, which acts as a filler for (we're hoping) something greater in the near future. Also, our guess is the recent leaked image of a 'Storm' device may possibly be the Storm4, which could include the new QNX operating system, and should be 4G LTE ready when released in early 2011. Or, it could just be a prototype that found its way out of Waterloo some how.

I'm tempted to try and pick this device up when it gets released... OS 6 will run pretty nice on a touch screen.

Actually I ment, it seems OS 6 was designed with a touchscreen in mind.

I'm just not a fan of the tabs.. I wish I could lock it to the "all" tab or customize them a bit.. It just seems like a pain to me to have to scroll through the tabs with the track pad, like why bother with the Media tab, since I have a media folder on the "all" screen?

Of course that could be because I don't have the order of the tabs memorized yet.. or my trackpad is too sensitive.

Doubt you will see this device in US markets. Verizon isn't carrying it and I doubt Sprint will either.

Here is some more on the so called Storm 3 from BoyGenius Report:

Exclusive: BlackBerry Storm 3 shows up, tells all | BGR | Boy Genius Report

You thought we were done revealing RIMxxx8217;s 2011 BlackBerry lineup? Not quite yet. In addition to the new BlackBerry Bold, BlackBerry Curve, and BlackBerry Torch 2, we have received photos and information about the BlackBerry Storm 3. The specifications on the Storm 3 are pretty impressive and will definitely position this Storm sequel nicely among other top-of-market handsets. It also will feature the highest resolution display to ever ship on a BlackBerry smartphone xxx8212; a 800 x 480-pixel display and yes, it will have an optical trackpad (though wexxx8217;re not sure why). Here is the thing, itxxx8217;s entirely possible RIM will change the Storm branding on the device xxx8212; codenames are Monaco and Monza for the global devices xxx8212; wexxx8217;ll have to wait and see. We have all the specs after the break!

* 1.2GHz processor
* 3.7-inch 800 x 480 capacitive display
* Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE
* Tri-band UMTS/HSPA
* 5-megapixel camera with 720p video recording
* 8GB eMMC (storage for apps and data), 512MB of RAM
* microSD slot
* Magnetometer
* Proximity sensor
* Accelerometer
* Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR
* 2.4GHz b/g/n and 5GHz a/n Wi-Fi + UMA
* 3G Mobile hotspot
* Optical trackpad
* 1230 mAh battery
* BlackBerry OS 6.1
* OpenGL ES 2.0

The BlackBerry Storm 3 looks good for a release around September of this year, and from what we have been told, the Storm 3 will launch in two or possibly three versions globally.

Wow if that is what becomes the Storm3 then it sounds very impressive. I dont see anything telling us its coming to Verizon, which would be a shame since Verizon has been the place where the Storms started. I just got on the Storm bandwagon with a Storm2 and I am quite impressed by it.

It might be impressive if it were being released now. By Sept, these specs won't seem so great considering what everyone else has out or will be putting out by then. RIM shouldn't waste their time with this, get out a next generation BB before it's too late.

I've read the article about the new BB models coming out:

RIMxxx8217;s 2011 BlackBerry lineup | BGR | Boy Genius Report

question - is the Storm screen the same size as the Torch screen? The article states that the Storm 3 will have the highest resolution of any BB.

I love my torch - but I do get screen envy when I look at other phones - I'm curious of the Storm 3 will have a larger screen.

The new Bold looks pretty compelling as well. Decisions . . Decisions . . .

most likely. it's not a cdma phone so im pretty sure we will eventually see it. i'm impressed by the resolution of the display. Sounds like this is the only device that is QNX ready. (processor + screen)

well the leaked info states that the torch screen will be 480 by whatever..i forget. I really don't see them not upresing the screen when even the touchscreen bold will have higher resolution. We'll see.
