Default BB Storm 3

Please Login to Remove!

Here we go again, getting excited about a phone that probably won’t come out until next year. Yes, I’m talking about the Storm 3. A couple of my sources have been talking to me lately about the new Storm 3, and I gotta tell you guys it sounds FREAKING AWESOME!! Everyone knows I’m a huge fan of the Storm 2, but from what I’ve heard so far about the third version of the Storm… I think I’m in love already.

Blackberry Storm 3 xxx8211; Early Specs « Salomondrin

Here are some Storm 3 specs and info that I’ve heard so far repeatedly from my sources:

1. Its being tested by a very limited team (preventing leaks).
2. The phone’s shell is still the Storm 2xxx8242;s shell with different guts though (To make it hard to identify if the phone is lost or photographed).
3. It does have a 1ghz processor.
4. 8 GB internal memory.
5. 512MB flash memory was what they saw first, but apparently they are now playing with these test phones and have over 1GB of flash memory.
6. It won’t run on OS 6.0. Its gonna be running on an OS of its own. <– Really exciting
7. The phone does have the ability to run widgets and you can personalize it A LOT.
8. 5 MP camera still on it as off now, but like we saw on the 9670, this can change.
9. The screen will be something new we haven’t seen yet (new input mechanism) ,but it won’t work like the Storm 2. Yes, it will have SURE-PRESS, but I’m not sure how they are archiving it this time.
10. Its gonna be Verizon’s 1st or 2nd LTE phone. They aren’t sure if the Android phone will be first or the Storm at this point.

The reason why RIM doesn’t want this phone to leak, or are being more careful about it, is because it would confirm that Verizon will be launching their LTE network (which by the way is already set, but just running tests on as off these days) and its somehow a liability for them.

Again, and as you know, some things could/will change but those are the specs as off today.

Well, they are. Possible Name Change: Bold 9800 (slider) may instead launch as the BlackBerry Torch 9800; Should RIM add a new product family? | CrackBerry.com
That is only one of many posts detailing the "slider."

Maybe my next phone. Only thing I will wait a few months after it is released to allow all the bugs to be found. I expect this will be part of the Verizon LTE rollout. The real question will be what other radio(s) and frequencies will be included.

I'll be really surprised if RIM gets a LTE BlackBerry out that quickly.

But we can hope.. Might try the Storm 3 at that point again.

If it's true, with the 1GHz processor, 8GB of storage and 512 of RAM, it would be a strong smartphone.

I think at this point it would be best if RIM held off on the Storm 3 or whatever its called until Apple's broken iPhone 4G is released all over the world, this way RIM can come make a device that's far better than the 4G and release it to the public snatching up more Mac Lovers!

I don't a BlackBerry will ever compete with the iPhone, 2 completely different objectives unless the rumors are true and RIM releases a a separate OS for the Storm 3 making it a consumer only device.

We shall have to wait and see what RIM does. It is exciting to think that RIM might launch a phone for the launch or soon thereafter for LTE

Better games, will probably depend how well they open the API's in OS6 and what game companies want to venture to the BlackBerry Realm, but we can hope! (I am, I love tower defense games, but that's we really got for now.)

Would you guys consider java as a problem for game developers? How complex can they make a game with java :o .. or does it not matter X_x ?? I don't really know how it would work @_@

Samsung Wave. This specs is now already in the sub 400 Euro price range.

I would thus be surprised if RIM would roll a slower CPU; especially given that their Os is all emulated.

This is a deal maker for me.... its been a long way since the Sure Press flop of the original Storm... The 2nd iteration was awesome and I got so use to it that any regular touch screen I kinda dislike... (at least in the typing department)
