Because that's the way it is.

Straight to the point lol.
It just seems silly when it goes to messages and to the instant messenger folder.

The messages folder is the catch all. It isn't really a separate container so much as a view that shows everything. I was aware you can separate SMS messages, though I don't use SMS and have left that as theme controlled. I don't do IM either. If you are saying you have an IM folder as well and PIN messages showing in both places, I wasn't aware, but I'll take your word for it.

Wirelessly posted (White and Nerdy)

Go into BBM. Hit menu>options

Uncheck the "show chats in message application" and then save it

I guess it is no longer "that's the way it is" on that.

I reckon. But I'm not a big BBM user. And I like everything in the messages folder. And I didn't take my own advice on this one to drill down through all the options and experiment.

Oops.... We weren't talking about BBM. The OP asked about pin messages. I did know about the BBM setting. Maybe there is a setting to separate pin's, but I'm not aware.

there is no way to separate pins out of message folder.
but if they are showing up in the IM folder than the op is in fact talking about BBM and not pins.
which is a understandable mistake.
