Post Java Games Utilizing Trackball Controls

Please Login to Remove!

This may seem simple (although I have not found it to be)
I have hundreds of java games built for old Nokia phones, etc.
I have no problem loading the games onto my Blackberry.
I have spent hours trying to figure this out. There has to be a way to edit the controls of these games to use the trackball instead of the numerical keys.
I have noticed some of the games utilize the trackball (or at least some movement), but not all of them.
I have downloaded tons of software including the Blackberry JDE, but I am not very familiar to Java app creation and development.
I have tried numerous times to google this information and have spent hours reading. I have learned a great deal about Java (such as file conversion and such), but not how to change the controls.

Any reply will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Eddie

Default not possible

Hi,

The games you are referring are probably a j2me games.
The blackberry doesn't map the trackball movements as up/down/left/right movements.

So, the only way to put it working is to change the code to handle the blackberry events.

Well, the Sudoku Expert game from S4BB is a J2ME game and the trackball works fine

Unfortunately, it does not fit on my new Curve 8900 screen size. The old one was working well (8320 with 320x240 pixels).

In case anybody was interested, the only way to successfully port over a java game that was not originally designed for the Blackberry is to get your hands on the original source code that was used to develop the game. Unfortunatly this means contacting the developer and asking them for the source code to edit the controls. Which is impossible simply because there are so many people out there that would love to get their hands on the source code not just to edit the controls, but to steal the entire concept of the game. I received this information directly from a Blackberry developer on the Blackberry developer site.
