Area Code Support: Berry-a-Code currently supports over 275 US, 24 Canadian and 20 Caribbean area codes.

I am working to support international country codes but it is a bit more complex.

Just a quick note to say thanks. I DL'd it last night.

It may take months to find out if it works or not, since I don't get many out of town calls and sometimes have unknown/blocked callers blocked -- but it seems to have installed smoothly and is running nicely in the background.

You can always just call yourself from your home phone if you have one to see if it works.

Thank you for the note. Yes, this is a difficult application to test.

One note: multiple cities can overlay a single area code and multiple area codes can overlay a city. So, I typically selected the most populous city to display.

Please let me know if you have suggestions on better cities for a selected area code.

I just installed it, I live in Canada on the North shore of Montreal and when I called myself from my house, it gave me a South shore area. It worked great when I received a call from Toronto.

For the 24 Canadian cities, did you just use the area code or area code with the exchange as well?

That's true, but my home phone is in my BB's Addressbook (and I think the addressbook overrides this app). However, that said, I can temporarily change my home phone number in the addressbook (say by one digit) just to see if it works -- thanks for the idea.

Edit/Update: yes, that worked perfectly. I changed my work number in my contact list so that the call wouldn't match myself, and it came up announcing (in my case) Province, Country. Well done.

I wonder if this app and Black & White List will get along...

Edit/Update: above, I'd said I called from my work phone, which is an IP phone which usually doesn't come up on CallerID. Now, I am subscribed to CallerID; so if a caller is not in my addressbook, what will Berry-A-Code display? Will it kick in for callers not in my addressbook but would have normally displayed the name? I suppose I can find out when I get home...

It's possible he's using the areacode only and not the exchange -- my areacode covers a large region of several cities as well, unfortunately.

What does this website return when you enter the areacode *and* exchange?

It works for me -- my area is '415' and covers: San Francisco, Novato, San Rafael, Mill Valley, San Anselmo, Larkspur, Corte Madera, Tiburon, Sausalito and Fairfax. If I enter a known SF exchange (297) it returns correctly, and if I enter a known Mill Valley exchange (381) it also returns correctly.

I think the author (bberic) needs to implement exchange code support as well.
