So I got my blackberry as an open box. Got a discount for that and the blackberry was in perfect condition. Now I'm speculating that something is wrong with it because the backlight is giving some issues. It comes on and goes off fine but I noticed 3 stages of it. The completely black off mode, the mode you get when you browse and then the mode when you halt browsing for a couple seconds. It doesn't go to the fully black mode but it dims out a little.

Now when I try to use the trackpad or even click buttons it doesn't always go to its original maximum strength ... what is going on? Should I come to the conclusion a faulty blackberry was sold, get my money back and get the unopened box?

are you sure its not the auto dim.
you can change it in the screen/keyboard options

the blackberry has a light sensor based on lighting it does this. as lovescakemix said check that.

the automatic dim back light turn it off if you dont like it.
