Default using b-berry as modem/ dialing through desktop manager?

Please Login to Remove!

I have been using my b-berry as a modem for a few years - using the built in dialer for windows xp. I was told recently that newer editions of desktop manager have built in dialing functions which may make speeds faster. Couldnt find on dm. ANy ideas? has anyone ever heard of this ?

I have not heard of this either. Can you provide a link or source of that info?

Probably won't get much faster anyway considering the 8100 is EDGE only, not 3G and barely faster than dial up.

You heard correct. Latest DM builds allow for tethering directly from DM, it even automatically fills in the details for all the major carriers and also reports about how much data has been transfered per session. Download it from the software section in blackberry.com

However, as DM checks OS version and Carrier, the IP modem option in DM can sometimes be deactivated.
I.e those on Verizon without a tethering plan etc.

this has already been discussed many times. did you try to search first? some carriers block this function to where you dont even see the option in DM. but there are ways around it. i have done it and got it working on ATT. JUST SEARCH!!

It can be turned back on, it's just a setting which you can change. Look for it in here and change false to true for your carrier.

For WIN7 you can find it here.

Just put in the number of the other modem you want to connect to. May use voice minutes tho, so be careful.

Example: the internet dial up number for tmobile is *99#
replace that with ###-###-#### but again...
