If anyone else gets this try giving "everyone" read/execute permissions on C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\Router\BlackberryRouterPerf.dll and restart BMC Patrol services (if you have them).
cheers

we did but not using the method in my earlier post - we used a Microsoft utility called rkill. I can't remember the exact command, if you are struggling let me know and I'll see if I can dig it out.

I would be most interested in what you did with Rkill.

I think 4.1 is a bit buggy right now. I can't wait for a SP or a hotfix from RIM.

Andy, sorry it wasn't rkill - it was EXCTRLST.EXE (it's a free downloadable tool from Microsoft's website)

Fire that up, go to Counter ID, find Blackberry Router (second from bottom counter on our servers) and uncheck the 'performance counter enabled' box.

What the real issue is I dont know but this at least gets rid of the error in event viewer!

We didn't have this issue until SP1 for 4.1 was installed. For now the perflib uncheck in extensible counters list fix is fine, I think this is benign, just an annoyance. Does anyone have further insight?

OK, this is weird. I just enabled the perflib counters again and no more errors! Perhaps the DLL wasn't registered correctly in the counters and this did the trick. I'll monitor the event log and post what happens.

After a reboot this error happned again. The workaround according to RIM is to go to the registry in HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\BlackBerryR outer\Performance and modify the Library entry to read C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\BypassRouter\BlackberryRouterPerf.dll. Prior to this is was missing the \BlackberryRouterPerf.dll at the end.

Default Same Thing on BES 4.1 for Exchange

I'm seeing the same thing and I'm running BES 4.1 for Exchange. It's filling up the Windows SBS 2003 application event log fast. My gut feeling is to change "AllowRemoteServices" to 1 in the Blackberry Router DLL in regedit. But wondering is someone can make more sense of this error.

This path for me leads to no where. Any other thoughts?

What do you mean nowhere? If you are running Server 2k3 with BES 4.1 SP1 then the registry path I listed should solve your issue.

Default Perflib 4.0 SP5a

I tried the regedit and set the path accordingly (BlackberryRouterPerf.dll was missing). Do we need to reboot or restart any services?

Insert microsoft com here /downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=7ff99683-b7ec-4da6-92ab-793193604ba4&displaylang=en

Should take you there. I'm sure you've read the rest by now. I updated the registry (yet to reboot) and the error still persists. I am trying this trick now.

I used exctrlst.exe to disable (refresh) and then enable the Blackberry Router performance counter and, like the other post, the errors stopped. This server isn't due to be rebooted for a while so we'll see if the fix survives a reboot in the coming days.

I hadn't done SP1 for BES 4.1. Did that and now found exactly the regedit reference. However the errors seem to be continuing.

Default Another method to fix this

I tried updating the library key. I restarted the services and no change. I found you can create another key that seems to disable the performance monitoring for that process. Create a DWORD value under HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Blackberry Router\Performance. Call it "Disable Performance Counters" and set it to a value of 1.
