Any updates?
Please Login to Remove!
Does anyone think they will ever release any updates for this phone?
Maybe not OS 5 but i mean come on this phone has only had 2 or 3 or maybe 4 updates ever. They are still releasing updates for the 81XX series even now.
Why make a phone and never release any new or newer updates for it, they probably sold millions of these phones.

You won't see 5.0 for it.
Not enough memory....

I never said 5 but they should be able to release more updates for 4.6, this phone has the same processor as the 83xx yet it's a slug and the 8320 for instance is not that bad.
Look how long it was stuck on 4.6.0.178 before someone released a new OS.

I will list just the 8100. Not the 8110,20, or 30.
That's only the latest few, there are PLENTY of others. I think you get my point. There have been many releases for this device.

You didn't read it right, i said the 8220 didn't get too many updates, the 81xx series got multiple updates and it still has the odd update today. The 8220 has been the least updated phone Rim released. The 8220 only had maybe 4 updates ever in it's life cycle.

Then you need to correct your profile to reflect which device you're using.

The 8220 was not marketed well, and did not sell well.
With a small user base, RIM didn't have a lot of updates for it...
And now it's pretty much dead. I don't think anyone is selling it anymore.

Yeh you never said which device.
Everyone assumed it was the 8100 listed in your profile.

You have no idea how many people post in the incorrect sections. You can't always go by that.

I think it's more the apparent lack of interest in this device. I don't know about the 8220, but the 8230 has plenty of memory. I have one with 4.6 installed - and several applications - it has over 50 Mb left.

That comment was written about the 8100, which was in the poster's profile at the time.
Only later was it was it noted that they had an 8220.

Got it. Yes, I also have a 8130--it was short on memory right out of the box.

So we will never see 5.0 for the 8220 although 5.0 software appears for it in the beta list? Can you explain this please?

Beta list means someone saw it on a log somewhere. 5.0 for the 8220 was never released. Since it is not marketed and has hardly any support, I doubt we will ever see it.
From the Beta thread: ***Please note: Many of these are UNRELEASED OS versions so just because they're listed here does NOT necessarily mean they are available anywhere for download.
