Default New to the BB and have a problem with dialing from the keyboard!

Please Login to Remove!

Hy, I bought my first smart phone 2 days ago and its a BB torch. I'm new to these jewls and need some help.
My question is:
When I slide my phone and open it to dial from the keyboard and strat to press the numbers, here is what is happening:
If I press on "1" which is the same button as "w", one "w" gets written at the top and two "1"s get written underneath it (one w and twice 1)
Same thing happens if I press on any number; the letter appears above but the relevant number appears twice below!?
How can I fix this?
Thanks a lot

Maybe something easier for you. With the Torch closed, hit the green send key and the dial numpad should come up and then you can dial.

When you are on the home screen and slide the keyboard up and begin dialing the phone doesn't know if you are dialing a number (bottom line) or if you are typing something into the universal search bar. Just keep dialing and press the green key and it will work. (Although you shouldn't get two 1's when you press 1 once.)

If you first press the green phone key prior to dialing the numbers - you won't see the letters.

As mentioned earlier, you can also keep the keyboard closed, click on the green phone icon then dial on the screen - in this manner, the on screen keys are much larger.

Enjoy the Torch.

Thank you guys for your replies,
I am able to dial normaly with the on screen keybord and with the phone keyboard IF i press the green button first.
But if i don't, and I just slide the phone and start dialing I am still getting two "1"s
I thought maybe there would be an Option for it somewhere...

Thank you again

You can turn off the Universal Search, as well. I dunno why you would, though.
