Default Insure my Blackberry

Please Login to Remove!

I just upgraded to a Blackberry Pearl from a Razr, and I found that my lockline insurance will not cover it. Is there any place out there that's relatively inexpensive that will insure my blackberry? I tried safeware, but they will only insure computers.
Thanks!

You can try your renters insurance. There are also several companies out there that offer insurance for Blackberry type devices

Why not get the insurance available from your carrier?

Cingular's insurance providers don't cover "new/hot" phones. Among many other reasons, "hot" phones have a higher rate of "lost/stolen" claims than regular phones, and many of those "claims" wound up on Ebay as NIB auctions.

The same thing happened when the Razrs first came out. In another 6-12 months when the Pearl is no longer the latest and greatest, you'll be able to insure it.

Cingular's insurance provider doesn't insure any smartphones or PDA's (including BB's) as well -- "new/hot" or not.

I just called my insurance co (USAA) and they do in fact cover our Blackberrys under our renters insurance policy no matter where in the world I am when something happens to it, maybe you would be covered as well...

you can schedule it on your homeowners insurance so that there is no deductible. frankly, i'm not sure it's really worth it. they will swap the phone out for free for any damage (including water damage in my experience) so as long as you don't lose it, you should be safe.
