Hey everyone,

So I got an unlocked blackberry 9700 telus phone last night, and im currently under contract with Rogers Wireless.

I changed my iphone data plan to the blackberry data plan, reset the phone and thought I was good to go.

HOWEVER, my bbm will not work (I will add someone, and it will say pending, and vice versa)

In addition, my blackberry app world will not open because it says the server is down, as well email (it only mentions an enterprise account) I want to use my hotmail, but it just wont give me the options to.

the weird thing is, prior to gettign the phone, the previous user who happens to be a friend, is with rogers and showed me his bbm on the phone functioning perfectly, alogn with his email.

i know the version of this phone is 4.0

will anyone be able to help me? no bbm/email despite the fact that I called my provider and changed dataplans really puzzles/frustrates me.

First i am sure this device has 5.0 and not 4.0 because there is version 6.0 out for this one.
Also make sure that you go to you provider's website or call them and they will ask your PIN# to provision it and it will not work until they do this. If the device is still tied to old user then it will tell at this time. (Hope not)

Also make sure that it has uppercase EDGE/3G or UMA or something likewise and also a Blackberry logo around the connection tower.

The benefactor of your device might not have canceled their BIS account. You need to contact your friend to make sure he/she calls their carrier and does that.

Then you need to call your carrier and make sure the BB data plan is properly activated and ask them to resend the service books.
